Mrs.
Nedra Lucas began her journey working with the Detroit Board of Education as a DBA designated at Woodward Elementary School
in 1998. Mrs. Lucas developed Health Brings Wealth School Based Program, Licensed Substance Abuse Program to provide services
and resources to low income parents with at-risk children.
Mrs. Lucas saw there was
a great need and passion for additional prevention services in the community, she was spiritually led to expand in 2002 The
Mission Prevention Education for Children, Youth and Young Adults a non- profit faith based charitable organization was born.
Since
year 2002, with a sense of social responsibility and the spirit of duty and obligation I responded to a call for action to
do battle with the evil forces that were threatening the good health, safety and well being of our children. Everyday, at
any moment, our children’s lives can be cut off by the madness from the open invitations to take part in smoking, drugs,
sex, alcohol and violence. Evil must be fought it cannot be ignored. As a missionary and an ambassador of good will
I began to work for the full intention of The Mission: As a parent, I am aware of the deliberate advertisements that catch
the attention of our children. There are all kinds of images that promise good times, good feelings and good results.
They see them on TV hear it on radios, read it in the news, books, and magazines. All of their senses are alerted and
aroused to GO FOR IT. The Mission: says No, Don’t Go…! ! ALL of these negative forces: destroy our good health
and well being. Smoking, drugs, violence alcohol, HIV/AIDS and STD’s corrupt communication. Your support, contributions
and participation will bring reality to our efforts and peace to the community for battles to be won.
The Mission: Prevention Education for Children,
Youth and Young Adults, (The Mission) is preparing for our 6th Annual Gala of Hope Fundraiser. We are proud to
say 7 years; The Mission has provided services in Detroit and its surrounding area
to help families and individuals to reeducate them so that they will become positive and productive. Our 6th Annual
Gala of Hope Fundraiser will promote hope to those who are going through painful times from overwhelming situations.
Also, provide them with testimonies from other people life experiences such as Ministers and survivors of domestic violence
and crime who had felt the same way until they begin to have hope. The Mission supportive services give them the tools
so they can begin their healing process mentally, emotionally, and spiritually to become well rounded. Please
